you just add. Since 5 2/5 and 8 2/5 have the same fraction your just add the numerators. 2/5 + 2/5 = 4/5. Then you just add 5+8 which is 13. The answer is 13 4/5

1. The easiest thing to do first would be to change 5 2/5 and 8 2/5 to improper fractions 5 2/5=27/5 and 8 2/5=42/5
2. Next you would solve by simply add straight across(The denominator is always going to stay the same so 5 will stay 5)
3. and to answer is 69/5=13 4/5
