I believe that an insoluble solid that forms a chemical reaction is called a precipitate.
Precipitate is an insoluble solid that forms when two ionic compounds in solution are combined. Which means precipitation reaction is the creation of a solid from a solution, and when the reaction occurs in a liquid solution, the solid formed is called the precipitate. In fact the only method of forming insoluble salts is called precipitation or double decomposition of salts.
