[tex] \frac{2}{3} + \frac{3k}{4} = \frac{71}{12} [/tex]

LCD ( 3 * 4 ) = 12

Multiply by LCD = 12

[tex] \frac{2}{3} *12+ \frac{3k}{4} *12= \frac{71}{12} *12[/tex]

Refine :

[tex]9 k + 8 =7[/tex]

Subtract 8 from both sides:

[tex]9k+8-8 = 71-8[/tex]

[tex]9k = 63[/tex]

Divide both sides by 9

[tex]k= \frac{63}{9} [/tex]

[tex]k=7[/tex]

hope this helps!
