It's a physical change because when you are popping popcorn, it is first a kernel and then after it changed. You can watch the change.

It is a physical change because the kernel is still made of the same molecules with the same chemical properties. Burning something is a chemical change, however in the kernel, pressure is simply building up from within until it can no longer withstand it. and Pop
