The power of the government comes from the "consent of the governed" ... which is us .

That means the government is only allowed to govern us as long as we lettum.  But the minute we say "no", the government suddenly has no power.  They have to turn out the lights, go home, and let somebody else ... who we consent to ... move in and start governing.
