1. Rewrite 1000 as its prime factors
[tex] \sqrt[3]{(2 x 2 x 2) x ( 5 x 5 x 5)} [/tex]

2. Group the same prime factors into groups of three
[tex] \sqrt[3]{(2 x 2 x 2) x ( 5 x 5 x 5)} [/tex]
 3. Rewrite each group of three in exponent form

[tex] \sqrt[3]{ 2^{3} x 5^{3} } [/tex]

4. Apply this rule: [tex] \sqrt[3]{ x^{3} } = x[/tex]
