let's represent the number by x
√1/4x=6                                      1/4 of 144 is 36 and the square root  of 36 is 6
(√1/4x²)=(6²)                              
1/4x=36
1/4x*4=36*4
x=144 
Therefore the number is 144

sqrt(x/4) = 6
x/4 = 6^2 = 36
x = 36 * 4 = 144.
