Answer: Juneteenth is significant because it celebrates the freedom of slavery. The harsh and inhumane punishments of slavery to African-Americans were no more and people now celebrate this holiday because of that.

On June 19, 1865 a general of the union rode into a city in Texas named Galveston. At there he announced that the Civil War has ended and all slaves are free.
