Work out the lengths of the corresponding sides.

The scale factor is the ratio of one side to the other.

Take the smallest length in both triangles.

Blue triangle:

length = √((7.5-2.5)^2 + (12.5-5)^2) = 9.0139 units.

Red triangle:

length = √((3-1)^2 + (5-2)^2) =3.6056

So the scale factor

= 9.0139/ 3.6056

= 2.5.
