The value of y in the solution to the system of equations is 13

y = 5x + 3

2y = 18x - 10

Rearranging the equation, the combined equation is as follows;

Combined Equation

y - 5x = 3

2y - 18x = -10

multiply equation(i) by 2

2y - 10x = 6

2y - 18x = -10

8x = 16

x = 16  /8

x = 2

y = 5(2) + 3

y = 10 + 3

y  = 13
