50 feet - 8 5/6 =

First off, 8 5/6 feet = 8.83

Next, we can subtract. 50 - 8.83 = 41.17

Answer: 41.17

50 = 49 6/6

49 6/6 - 8 5/6= 41 1/6
  
41 1/6= 40 7/6

40 7/6 - 8 5/6= 32 2/6

The answer is 32 2/6 or 32 1/3. 

Most people are getting it wrong because the are not subtracting 8 5/6 twice. The question said she took TWO 8 5/6 lengths of tape.
