although there are no purposes listed, the EPA’s purpose is to protect the environment (it’s in the name)! they do this by regulating air pollution standards, managing radioactive waste and regulating radiation standards for air and drinking water, having standards for water quality, cleaning up waste and land, and regulating pesticides and chemicals, among other things!
