to find the value of x

divide 20 both sides

[tex]\begin{gathered} 2x-8=\frac{440}{20} \\ 2x-8=22 \end{gathered}[/tex]

now add 8 both sides

[tex]\begin{gathered} 2x-8+8=22+8 \\ 2x=30 \end{gathered}[/tex]

divide by 2 both sides

[tex]\begin{gathered} \frac{2x}{2}=\frac{30}{2} \\ x=15 \end{gathered}[/tex]
