The manner in which an author puts ideas into words is called the author's style.
There are many styles nowadays because each writer has his or her own personal style of writing they prefer. Some writers may be dark and gloomy when they write, some may write about happy things, some may mention surreal events - it all depends on personal preferences of the writer.
