NOW( Th National Organization of Women) was founded in 1966 to help promote equality amongst the sexes. The women movement of the sixties has origins in the civil rights movement and the Vietnam war protests, which were both predominantly male driven social uprisings in which many women felt marginalized but saw opportunity to act.
