Pericles was a great statesman in Greek history, he was an orator and general of Athens in the Golden Ages. During his time all the male citizens were considered eligible to take part in Athenian Government regardless of their social class.

Pericles had a lasting impact on the Athenian society. Thucydides, a historian of that time called him “The First Citizen of Athens’.
