The farmers in Massachusetts rebelled during Shay's rebellion because of recently placed high taxes.

The government disallowed farmers from transporting their grain as whiskey.



When the state raised taxes the farmers couldn't pay their mortgages and lost their land.



Farmers sought broader voting rights than the new state constitution allowed.



Land values declined after the war.
