legally commit a person who has been tried as a sexual offender and has served their prison sentence to completion. The caveat in this situation is that the commitment is involuntary, after the initial sentencing has been completed, and is under the official’s own discretion. In my personal opinion, there needs to be a separate governing body to check the correctional officer’s rightfulness in his/her decision.
