A meteor is visible only once, but a comet may be visible at regular intervals throughout its lifetime. why?

A meteor is visible only once because when the meteor enter into the earth’s atmosphere it gets burned up in the process. While the comet may be visible at regular intervals because it rotate in a fixed elliptical orbit around the sun therefore it will stay in its path and eventually will be seen again in the same spot.
