Two ordinary six-sided dice are rolled. What is the probability of getting a sum of 8?

How many ways can you throw two 6 sided dice?
Since each dice has six sides, the total number of ways is 6*6 = 36 ways.

How many ways can an 8 be thrown? To make the differences easier to see use a green colored die and a red colored die.

5            3
3            5
4            4 That's five different ways of getting an 8.

The probability is
